Company History
D|C|CADD was founded in San Antonio, Texas in early 1987 to fill the void of professional, knowledgeable AutoCAD dealerships in the south Texas area. Doug Wietbrock, the company's president, was a registered architect and, in 1986, was a partner in a San Antonio architectural firm. When the architectural firm purchased its first CAD system, Wietbrock was the partner assigned to implement it into the firm's operations. He quickly discovered that their AutoCAD dealer was incapable of providing useful technical support. His frustration in obtaining answers led him to CompuServe (a pre-Internet on-line community) for assistance. He helped form the first AutoCAD User Group in San Antonio in early 1987 and was the group's second president. Sensing a business opportunity for a competent source of AutoCAD software, support and training, Wietbrock formed D|C|CADD within a year of first using AutoCAD.

In 1988, Wietbrock resigned his position with the architectural firm to lead D|C|CADD on a full-time basis. Lacking a marketing plan or formal sales force, D|C|CADD continued to grow throughout the late 1980's as our reputation spread by word-of-mouth. We had been training our customers one-on-one since 1986 and added a formal training facility in early 1990. The company became an Authorized Autodesk Training Center (ATC) in April 1995, when AutoCAD dealers were allowed to do so. We won our first Autodesk Instructional Quality award in our first year as an ATC.

An opportunity for growth into the nearby Austin market arose in late 1996, and an office was opened there in May, 1997. The Austin facility qualified to become an ATC within the first year and it continues to offer quality training on Autodesk software in Austin.

In 1997, D|C|CADD began a winning streak for ATC awards by receiving the "Triple Crown" of training excellence - the Instructional Quality award, the Facilities and Staff award, and the Overall Performance award. D|C|CADD repeated this achievement by winning these three top training awards in 1998, 1999, and 2000. In March 1998, Autodesk recognized D|C|CADD as one of their best resellers with the 1998 Best Customer Service and Support Award. Autodesk bestowed the same award upon D|C|CADD again in 2000.

On January 1, 2000, D|C|CADD acquired long-time Autodesk Reseller Lansing Pugh & Associates in Austin, Texas. In July, 2000, D|C|CADD received the largest training contract ever awarded in Texas from a Fortune 500 company. The contract involved providing introductory, intermediate and advanced training on Autodesk's most sophisticated MCAD design software, Inventor.

Additional opportunities presented themselves later in the year and D|C|CADD opened an office in Dallas on February 1, 2001. This new office, like the other two D|C|CADD locations, was fortunate to hire enthusiastic people with considerable CAD industry expertise. Autodesk bestowed ATC status on the Dallas training facility in late 2001. During its first operational year, the Dallas office won some of the largest Autodesk accounts in the Metroplex area.

In 2006, D|C|CADD expanded its offices in both Austin and Dallas-Ft Worth to accommodate additional employees. By early 2007, D|C|CADD was ranked as one of the 20 largest Autodesk Resellers in the US. In early 2008, the company was recognized as one of the Top Performing Autodesk Resellers and was listed as an Autodesk Platinum Club winner.
